Abstract

With the continuous development of China’s cultural exchanges with other countries and the widespread popularity of the Internet, a growing number of British and American movies are swarming into the Chinese market. As the first impression of a film,the movie title has functions of sending message,showing aesthetic feeling and attracting audience. Therefore, it is very important to study movie title translation.
Adaptation Theory was put forward by Verschueren in 1999, which is acknowledged to be a comprehensive, scientific and systemic theory with strong inclusive and explanatory capacity. According to adaptation theory, language use is a process of making choices whether consciously or unconsciously, owing to linguistic or non-linguistic factors. Therefore, it can compensate for the limitations of the previous single research perspective, and may be applicable to the formation of a relatively systematic framework for movie title translation.
This paper, based on Verschueren’s adaptation theory, explores the necessity of its application in movie title translation,and puts forward adaptation tactics in the process of movie title translation:linguistic context,culture context,英语毕业论文英语毕业论文,aesthetic psychology and commerce value.

摘要

随着中国与其他国家文化交流的不断发展和互联网的广泛普及,越来越多的英美电影涌入中国市场。作为电影第一形象的电影片名,具有传达信息、表现美感、交流文化和吸引观众的影响。因此,对电影片名的翻译的探讨显得尤其重要。
顺应论是由Verschueren在1999年提出的,这一理论被语言学界公认为一套完整、科学、系统的理论,具有强大的包容性和解释力。该理论认为,人们使用语言是一个做出选择的过程,不管这种选择是无意识的,还是有意识的,不管是出于语言外部还是语言内部的原因。因此,该理论可以弥补以往单个探讨视角的局限性,建立较系统的电影片名翻译框架。
 本文以Verschueren的顺应论为理论基础,研讨顺应论在英语电影片名汉译中的运用,并提出电影片名翻译中的顺应准则:语言语境顺应、文化语境顺应、受众审美心理顺应和商业价值顺应。
