Abstract
Eco-translatology, proposed by Hu Gengshen, Tsinghua University professor in 2017 on the Third Asian Translators’ Forum, makes a study of translation under the guidance of ecology, which provides a new perspective for the study of translation and subtitle translation. Based on the Eco-translatology, this paper makes an analysis of the subtitle translation of The Great Gatsby from dimensions of linguistics, culture and communication, revealing that translators should strive to adapt themselves to translational eco-environment from multi-dimensions to achieve the best translation of subtitle.

摘要
生态翻译学是清华大学胡庚申教授2017年在第三届亚洲翻译家论坛上提出的翻译理论。该理论从生态学的角度对翻译进行探讨,为翻译探讨提供了新的视角,也为字幕翻译提供了一个新的视角。本文从生态翻译学的角度,通过语言层面,文化层面,交际层面对《了不起的盖茨比》的字幕进行翻译,指出在翻译探讨中,译者应尽量适应翻译生态环境,坚持多维度适应以获得高质量的字幕。

Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Research Background
New technology, in the form of transportation and communication systems, has accelerated intercultural contact. Film is an important cultural medium to promote communication between Chinese and Western cultures. However, because of the large differences in culture and the language barrier, most film viewers cannot fully understand the connotation and essence of film. Therefore, the translation of film subtitle plays a critical role in foreign film market. Many scholars and translators have been doing the research on the translation strategies and methods of film subtitle from different perspectives, such as functional equivalence theory, relevance theory, and Skops Theory. This paper tries to conduct some tentative research on it from the perspective of Eco-translatology by taking the subtitle translation of The Great Gatsby as an example. It points out that translators need to weigh each element within the translation environment during the process of translation and then decide on the best translation strategy or method to make the translation a best integration of adaptive transformation.
