1. Introduction
China boasts a five-thousand-year culture and history, the splendid ancient civilization, countless scenic spots and historic resorts which have attracted a large number of tourists both from home and abroad. Nowadays, tourism has been playing an increasingly important role in cultural communication. It introduces the world people to its civilization and culture by various means and the most common and effective one is tourist brochures which contain the introduction of the attractions, the specialties, the map and the hotel service. They usually serve to introduce the detailed information to tourists such as the geographical characteristics, places of interest, specified food, and local customs. If the tourists’ brochures are attractive and persuasive enough, visitors are willing to spend a short-time traveling which in return gives them deeper impression of local culture.
