1 Introduction
Code-switching is one of the most common phenomena in the word. As a result of frequent language contact in today’s world, it is common for people to use languages or language varieties in daily conversations, literary works, television programs, advertisements, popular songs and so on.
Bloom & Gumperz divided code-switching into “situational and metaphorical code-switching” (Gumperz, 1982:31) and stated that “inter-sentential has certain limit in the structure” (Gumperz, 1982:31). Since then, linguists started to carry on research from sociolinguistics, pragmatics, syntax, psycholinguistics and so on. Bloom & Gumperz, Myers-Scotton, Poplack, Yang Zhiqing Pfaff etc. are the most representative among the linguists. In China, He Ziran, Yu Guodong, Huang Guowen, Li Jingwei and Chen Liping and so on, theses linguistics offer a more systematic, comprehensive introduction of research abroad. |
