Abstract
As technology is developing rapidly, foreign films and videos are much more easily for us Chinese to get access to. Therefore, learning English only from class seem too boring for most of the English learners and learning English from English films and videos becomes a new fashion. Thus, it’s time for us to doubt that if its a completely good idea to do so. Does this kind of English learning method have negative impact on English while it brings a lot of positive impacts on them? In this case, writing this thesis is to state the both impacts of English films and videos and to tell those self-assess students how to choose the right ones. In this thesis, different impacts that films and videos I have watched on me are also included. This thesis is to encourage and lead those learners to the right way of learning English from films and videos.

1 Introduction
1.1 Research Background
With the globalization of the world, English gradually becomes the most widely used language all over the world.In most counties where they choose English as a second language have already set up this course in their schools such as China. Recently, the atmosphere of learning English in China is becoming more and more heavily. However, the English learners’ interest are badly injured when they are facing such a different and difficult language. They feel that they are forced to learn English and a lot of English learners give up. As technology develop quite rapidly, people can get assess to English films and videos easily. Therefore, they may learn English from those works. No matter learning English from classes or from films and videos, all English learners want their methods to be efficient. In this case, many experts and teachers are gradually starting to be concerned about the positive and negative impacts of films and videos on English learners.
