Abstract
In the background of globalization, intercultural communication plays an important role. The cultivation of intercultural communication competence and consciousness has become an important subject and goal of college English teaching.
However, there are many differences existing between Chinese and western cultures. We need to recognize the differences and analyze the occurrence of them. We should also realize the influence of cultural differences on English teaching and improve students’ the ability of intercultural communication.
This paper endeavors to analyze the differences between Chinese and western cultures and their influence and importance on cultural education in English teaching. This paper also discusses the importance for college students to learn cultural differences between Chinese and western in English study.

在全球化背景下，跨文化交际发挥着十分重要的影响，跨文化交际能力的培养也已成为目前大学英语教育的重要内容，培养跨文化交际意识和能力因而成为英语教学中的一个重要任务和目标。
然而中西方文化又存在着诸多异同，这就需要去发现文化中存在的异同，略论异同存在的原因，认识中西方文化异同对英语教学中文化教育的作用以及在英语教学的文化教育中处理好文化之间的异同并让学生形成文化异同意识、提高跨文化交际能力。
本文从认识中西方文化异同角度对英语教学中文化教育的作用以及在英语教学中处理好文化之间的异同入手，研讨英语教学中文化教育的重要性。

With the rapid globalization, cultural differences between China and western countries greatly influence English Teaching. Intercultural education becomes more and more urgent. The cultivation of intercultural communication competence and consciousness has become an important subject and goal of college English teaching. We need to recognize the differences and analyze the origins of them. We should also seek methods to deal with them and improve students’ ability of intercultural communication. |
