Abstract
Love of Life, an outstanding short story created by the famous American writer Jack London, mainly tells a story about a gold prospector’s hard survival ordeal from the wilderness. Through a detailed analysis of the protagonist’s unyielding struggle against environment adversities including chilliness, starvation as well as wild beasts and his struggle against himself with inner strength and proper values in the wilderness, this thesis aims to elaborate the spirit of struggle embodied in the protagonist, thus demonstrating the greatness of the humanity in face of dangers and difficulties and reflecting Jack London’s views on the spirit of struggle.

《热爱生命》是美国著名作家杰克•伦敦创作的杰出短篇小说。该短篇小说主要描述了一个淘金者从荒野中死里逃生的故事。通过深入剖析主人公在荒野中与严寒、饥饿、野兽等恶劣的自然环境所进行的英勇抗争以及主人公与自我展开的英勇抗争，主要包括用内心意志和正确的价值观在荒野中求生存的抗争，英语论文，英语论文范文，本论文旨在揭示体现在主人公身上的抗争精神；从而展示出在面对危险和困难时人性的伟大并揭示了杰克•伦敦的抗争观。

1. Introduction
Jack London (1876-1916) is one of the most outstanding realistic novelists and short story writers in American literature in the early 20th century. He has been regarded as “a fighter with an unconquerable will” by many readers. Most of his short stories describe man’s struggle against nature and himself under adverse conditions. One of the representative works of this category is Love of Life. His works are not only well-received in the United States but also welcomed by people all over the world. He enjoys a high position both in modern American literature and the world literature.
