Abstract
Oscar Wilde, an Irish born dramatist, essayist, novelist and poet, was an splendid representative of aestheticism. He was an active advocate of aestheticism in Britain. The aestheticism which advocated “ Art for art’s sake”, was a trend of literary thoughts in the late nineteenth century in the west. The esthetes thought that art transcended life and was unsurpassable. Wilde was the leader of the aesthetic movement in England in the nineteenth century. Moreover, he adopted various thoughts from different schools, and developed his own thought which was successfully applied in his works.
Since the publication of The Picture of Dorian Gray, the book has attracted the critics’ attention and the protagonist has become the focus of the argument. Wilde believed that art should have nothing to do with the reality itself. The thesis, probing into one of Wilde’s famous works, explores the conflict between lust and morality.
This thesis consists of three parts. After introducing aestheticism, the background and the author, the first part presents the lust in The Picture of Dorian Gray by analyzing the pursuit of eternal youth, beauty and sensual pleasure. The second part analyzes the morality in The Picture of Dorian Gray and the unity of body and soul in characters of the novel. The third part discusses the relation between lust and morality by studying the split character of Dorian Gray and attesting supremacy of lust over morality. Based on the analysis of plots and characters in The Picture of Dorian Gray, this paper presents and analyzes the relation between lust and morality.

奥斯卡•王尔德，爱尔兰剧作家，作家，小说家及诗人，是唯美主义的杰出的代表人物。他是英国唯美主义的积极倡导者。倡导“为艺术而艺术”的唯美主义，是西方十九世纪后期文学的一种趋势。唯美主义者认为艺术超越生活，并无法被超越。王尔德是十九世纪英格兰唯美主义文艺思潮的领袖。另外，他汲取了不同学派的各种思想，并形成了成功应用于其著作的独立的思想。
自《道林格雷的画像》出版以来，英语论文范文，该书吸引了许多批评家的注意，英语论文题目，该书的主人公成为了争论的焦点。王尔德相信艺术与现实本身没有联系。本文从王尔德的一部著名著作出发，探究了欲望与道德的冲突。
本文由三部分组成。对唯美主义、背景及作者进行简要概述之后，本文的第一部分通过对永恒的青春、美及感官享乐的追求的略论来论述《道林格雷的画像》中的欲望。第二部分略论了《道林格雷的画像》中的道德及小说中人物的身体和灵魂的统一。第三部分通过探讨道林格雷的分裂性格及验证欲望高于道德来研讨欲望和道德的联系。通过对《道林格雷的画像》中的情节和人物形象的略论，本文呈现和略论了书中欲望和道德的联系。
