Abstract:
William Faulkner is one of the most famous writers of American Literary in the 20th century. He creates his works based on Southern history and the then society. And he becomes the representative of the Southern literature, whose works become the focus of the scholars’ study. The female images account for a large proportion in his books. A Rose for Emily is his famous short story and the object of many scholars. This story happened in the Jefferson town, where a lady named Emily, from a declined aristocratic family of the South America, poisoned her lover and accompanied the corpse for more than 40 years. Emily’s life is a tragedy. This paper focuses on the reasons for tragedy from three points: the Puritanism, the male-dominated society and Emily’s own characters. By analyzing the tragedy fate of Emily, this paper try to further presents the situations of Southern Women in the United States The article reflects the ravages and the bound of the Southern women to expose the darkness of the community.

摘要：
威廉•福克纳是是20世纪美国文学界最伟大的小说家之一，他把南方的历史和现实社会作为自己的创作源泉并成为南方文学杰出的代表，英语论文范文，其著作是人们历来关注的焦点。
女性在形象在他的作品中占据很大的比重。献给阿米利的玫瑰是福克纳著名的短篇小说，成为众多学者探讨的对象。小说以杰弗逊镇为背景，讲述的是美国南方没落贵族世家的艾米丽由哀声恨，毒死情人并与尸体同床相伴四十余年的恐怖故事。
文中主人公艾米丽的一生就是一场悲剧。本文着重探讨艾米丽的悲剧原因，英语论文题目，文章从三个方面：清教主义，父权主义和艾米丽自身性格着对艾米丽的悲剧命运展开描写，由小到大，从而进一步略论在美国南方社会，女性所面临的共同问题与她们的处境。文章处处体现了在当时社会，南方女性身心所受的摧残与束缚，进一步揭露社会的黑暗。
