Abstract
Tess of the d’Urbervilles has drawn continuous attention since its publication. There are numerous researches about this novel from different perspectives. However, for ecofeminism is a new field, the study from this view is superficial and needs to be explored.
The author uses ecofeminism to interpret Tess of the d’Urbervilles. This thesis focuses on analyzing the symbolic meanings of main characters and the causes of Tess’s tragedy. By comparing Tess to nature, Angel to patriarchy, Alec to industrialism and analyzing the deep hurt that Angel and Alec bring to Tess, the author comes to a conclusion that the oppression of patriarchy and industrialism on women and nature is not only the symbolic meaning but also the fundamental cause of Tess’s tragedy.
By writing this thesis, the author believes that ecofeminism can help readers to gain a new and deeper understanding about this classic and to raise an awareness of ecological protection and the equality between men and women. It’s also hoped that a more harmonious society will be established with the joint efforts of all human beings.

摘 要
《德伯家的苔丝》自出版来以来一直受到人们的不断关注。尽管对于此小说的探讨无数、角度多样，但由于生态女性主义是一种新兴领域，从生态女性主义角度对《德伯家的苔丝》的现有探讨仍浮于表面，有待进一步研讨。
本文利用生态女性主义文学理论对《德伯家的苔丝》进行了略论。文章重点略论主人公的象征意义和苔丝悲剧产生的原因。作者通过将苔丝比作自然，将安吉尔比作父权制社会，将亚雷比作工业文明，并对安吉尔和亚雷对苔丝造成的伤害进行剖析，得出结论：父权制社会和工业文明对女性和自然的压迫不仅是小说的象征寓意，也是苔丝悲剧产生的根本原因。
作者相信生态女性主义能帮助读者对此经典小说有全新的、更深的理解，并唤醒人们的生态保护意识和男女平等意识。同时，作者希望人类共同努力，英语论文范文，携手创建更加和谐的社会。
