Abstract:

After an analysis of the era background of the French Revolution and the psychology of different class people in the novel, It can be found that the rationality and justice of the revolutionary movement and its ruthlessness and violence can be seen as two sides of a coin, they cannot exist independently while they are at opposite poles. This dissertation hopes that according to the analysis of the rationality and justice of the revolutionary movement and its ruthlessness and violence, readers can have a more objective understanding of the existence value and significance of the revolutionary movement while they are knowing more about A Tale of Two Cities.

摘要:

通过关于著作中法国大革命的时代背景以及不同阶层民众的心理进行略论,英语毕业论文,可以发现革命运动的合理正义性与残忍暴力性如同一枚硬币的两面,英语论文范文,截然相反却又无法独立存在。本论文希望通过从革命运动的合理正义性与残忍暴力性这两个角度略论,让读者在进一步了解《双城记》这部著作的同时,能够对革命运动的存在价值与意义有一个更为客观的认识。

1.Introduction
1.1 A Brief Introduction to the Author and the Novel
Charles John Huffam Dickens was the master of English critical realism in the 19th century. He was universally acknowledged to be one of the greastest writers in the history of Britain. Charles Dickens, who was born on 7 February 1812, in Portsmouth, England, was the second child of his family. When he was just a little boy, his family financial situation was not too bad, so that he enjoyed a period of cozy time in his early years. However, because of failure of paying off the debts, his father was sent to jail and his happy childhood stoped abruptly. From then on, his life was filled with hardships and disgrace. What’s more, he lost the opportunity to go on with his educaion. The huge gap of life made Charles Dickens profoundly felt an abyss of suffering that people at the bottom bore everyday. That is the reason that we can find so many detailed depictions of impoverished life that people lived in his later literary works, and we can also feel his deep sympathy to the poor people and strong disappointment and dissatisfaction with society. After his death on 9 June 1870, Charles Dickens was buried in the Poets’ Corner of Westminster Abbey. The inscription on his gravestone reads, “He was a sympathiser with the poor, the suffering, and the oppressed; and by his death, one of England's greatest writers is lost to the world”.
