1. Introduction
Charlotte Bronte’s masterpiece Jane Eyre, published in 1847, is regarded as Charlotte’s autobiographic novel. Having the author’s own growth as the prototype, the novel gives out a strong smell of autobiography. Jane Eyre impresses readers all over the world very much because of its unique authenticity and infectivity. In fact, “Charlotte’s novels are all about lonely and neglected young woman with a strong eagerness for life and love.” (Wang Songlin, 2017, 249) Jane Eyre is such a typical female character. In the novel, Jane Eyre is an orphan, who is brought up in Gateshead by Mr.Reed, her mother’s brother. After Mr.Reed’s death, Jane bears years of neglect and abuse. Gradually, she becomes so irritable and unsocial that she is psychologically inferior. |
