Abstract and Key Words
Abstract: This paper mainly analyzes the “werewolf”---Lupin in the series of magic fictions Harry Potter, in which Lupin shows his distinctive features as a responsible and rational warrior against the dark force, a good teacher and helpful friend and a passionate and reliable lover. Based on the analysis of his characteristics, together with comparison between him and other werewolves, the thesis seeks to present the comprehension of this special figure that subverts the tradition as well as the significance of him in the series of fictions.

摘要：本文以系列魔幻小说《哈利•波特》中的“狼人”卢平为主要略论对象，略论了卢平在小说中的鲜明角色：一个负责而理性的战士，一位良师益友，同时也是一个热情可靠的爱人。本篇论文通过对他的特点的略论，并与其他狼人进行对比，英语论文题目，来展示出对这个颠覆传统的特殊角色及其在系列小说中的重要意义的深入理解。

1. Introduction
1.1 Background Information of Werewolves
Werewolf, in European folklore, is a man who turns into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. Some werewolves change shape at all will; in whom the condition is hereditary or acquired by having been bitten by a werewolf, change shape involuntarily, under the influence of a full moon (Milton, 1985:213).
Superstition prevails in ancient Europe that werewolf is a very cruel creature, and Europeans have a special fear for the wolf, which originates from the folk legends in Northern and Southeastern Europe. People at that time considered werewolves easily to be identified with the characters of connected eyebrows, hairy palms and withdrawn personalities like hermits. In addition to the head of wolves and long hair on the bodies, werewolves are bigger and taller than ordinary people. Werewolves indulge in human flesh as well as fresh meat of other animals. What’s more, they would like to kill humans when possible.
Werewolves can be classified as two types. Type 1 is the natural werewolf that is very fierce and violent and equipped with the abilities of transforming into humans, which they use in deceiving in most cases-----ordinary human cannot recognize after they deform into the shape of humans. Cruel disposition, high attacking speed plus keen sense of smell make the natural werewolves more dangerous. Type 2 is the postnatal ones that will basically become thirsty killers after losing minds when being cursed on the moonlight night and transform to human in the daytime. ，英语论文 |
