Abstract

Romeo and Juliet is one of the famous love-tragedies by Shakespeare. It is a love-tragedy about two young "star-crossed" lovers whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families. This article mainly analyses the cause of the love-tragedy, such as the conflict between feudalism and humanism, the background of the protagonists and the characteristic of people in the drama. All these reasons lead to the death of this couple of lovers within less than half minute. They admire each other so much; they are loyal to their oaths and want to acquire happiness in spite of how cool the reality is. Ultimately, they express their determination with the death. This love story is still deeply rooted among people. It is not only the implication of humanism’s triumph, but the proof of the great love.
