1. Introduction
Harry potter series is composed of seven books. Each book tells his growth experience from the age of eleven to seventeenth of the protagonist. They are Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Harry Potter is the hero in the story. When he was a baby, his parents were both killed by Lord Voldemort, the dark sorcerer. From then on, as an orphan, Harry had   to live with his relatives. However, on his eleventh birthday, a letter sent by an owl proclaimed him his real identity, and his life had changed ever since. He was admitted into a magic school Hogwarts for learning witchcraft and wizardry. At school, Harry made friends with Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy. After getting through all kinds of trials, Harry had finally realized his talent and finished the mission of the sublime under the complicated guardianship of the adult characters.
How can Harry Potter novels catch the hearts of millions of children and adults around the world? There must be something deeper waiting for us to dig. I suppose it is the archetypes behind that may explain why the stories resonate so mightily among both children and adults.
