Abstract
Harold Pinter, the great English playwright, awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature in 2017. For this reason, his works have attracted broad attention in China since 2017. However, as to the ascription of his early works, there are always disputations in academia. It does have influence in researching Pinter’s works. When we tide up the groups of writers, we can know that, in a given period, people’s thoughts and understand the influence of history to human and their thoughts. The Birthday Party is a magnum opus of Pinter’s early work. It combines some people and their situations in The Room and The Dumb Waiter, and it is more skillful in depicting. This essay focuses on the absurd elements in the early works of Harold Pinter, the Birthday Party, taken as an example, based on the theories of Martin Esslin, to illuminate how the writer succeeded and developed The Theatre of the Absurd.

1 Introduction
Harold Pinter, the famous English playwright, has won the Nobel Prize of Literature in 2017 and has become the second playwright that won this award after Samuel Beckett. Therefore, his works are known to the public and attracted great attention in the world. However, as to which faction he belongs to, there are great bifurcations. The author is trying to prove that it belongs to The Theatre of the Absurd. This easy is based on the theories of Martin Esslin, and examples from the Birthday Party to prove the argumentation that the early works of Pinter belong to the works of The Theatre of the Absurd. And we shall see how Pinter succeeded and made great contribution to The Theatre of the Absurd.
