In terms of the wide range of literature works we contact, Chinese American Literature belongs to a special part compared to the definitely native ones and foreign ones. Their authors have some peculiar and complex backgrounds and a lot of questions deserve our attention such as whether they directly contact to Chinese culture and traditions, what are their parents’ reasons for immigration and what kind of impact they faced in the foreign environment. All these factors have indispensable influence to their identity construction. Amy Tan as well as other second generation of Chinese American writers was affected by their parents’ values and experiences in a special historical period, which, no matter positive or negative,  added a deep Chinese mark to their novels to some extent although they have never got in touch with China directly.
