Abstract
As one of the best artists, Oscar Wilde was famous for his plays, critical theses and fairy tales. But there are some contradictions between Wilde’s artistic views and his literary works. As for Wilde’s fairy tales, both foreign scholars and Chinese scholars have done researches on the contradictions within his artistic theories; contradictions between his artistic proposals and his fairy tales; and contradictions within his fairy tales. However, few people realized the contradictions between the first impression on the role or the story which the title gives us and the fact which is reflected in the content. This contradiction exists especially in The Happy Prince and Other Fairy Tales, such as the heartbroken prince in The Happy Prince, the kind giant in The Selfish Giant, and the conceited rocket in The Remarkable Rocket and so on. Therefore, this thesis is based on The Happy Prince and Other Fairy Tales, discussing the contradictions between the titles and the stories and analyzing the use of dialogues, description of actions, psychological description and irony that create these contradictions. Besides, this thesis discusses the causes of this kind of contradiction from two aspects -- the writing background and Wilde’s artistic theory, which is helpful to know Wilde and his writing style better.

摘 要
作为一名著名作家，奥斯卡•王尔德以他的戏剧、批评散文和童话而闻名于世。但是他的文学著作却和他的艺术观有着一定的矛盾性。对王尔德的童话探讨中，英语论文，无论是外国学者还是中国学者都曾着眼于三点矛盾，一是他文艺观的内部矛盾性，二是他的文艺主张与童话之间的矛盾，三是他的童话著作内部的矛盾。然而，很少有人注意到他的童话著作的题目给人的对角色和故事的初步印象和文本反映出来的印象之间也存在着矛盾。这个矛盾在《快乐王子和其他故事集》当中尤为突出。例如《快乐王子》中悲伤的王子，英语论文，《自私的巨人》中善良的巨人，《了不起的火箭》中自负的火箭等等。因此，本篇论文以《快乐王子和其他故事集》为文本基础，略论其童话的题目与内容之间的矛盾性并阐释这种矛盾是如何产生的。此外，本文还略论产生这样矛盾的原因，以此来更深入地了解王尔德的创作风格。
