[Abstract] Practicing oral English needs a good environment. Meanwhile, practitioners are supposed to have a good motivation and mood rather than unnecessary anxiety. Therefore, how to seek or create a relative relaxed natural language environment will directly influence the improvement of a learner’s oral English. From the angle of information processing theory and language competence and performance, this paper analyzes the function of input and output on language acquisition and their interrelation. Through analyzing the problems in current English te4aching, this paper points out the present situation that most of the college students have a poor oral English results from emphasis on input too much. Hence, the function of output should not be ignored. In view of the fact that environment plays an important part on output, it is a wise choice to create a good environment for oral English. The paper relates the function of English corner on college students’ oral English from the point of environment view with the hope that more college students will realize the importance and attend English corner activities enthusiastically. Besides, the paper also tells them how to attend the activity, at the same time, gives them some suggestions for improvement the function of English corner on oral English due to the defect of English corner. 【摘 要】 英语口语的练习需要有良好的环境,练习者应有良好的动机、情绪,避免不必要的焦虑,因此如何主动寻找或创造一个自然、轻松的语言环境会直接作用英语口语水平的提高。本文从信息处理理论的角度和语言能力和语言应用的角度略论输入及输出语言习得中的影响,英语毕业论文,英语论文范文,两者缺一不可。通过略论目前口语教学存在的问题指出目前英语近况--过分重视输入,忽视输出或输出不足,导致中国学生学了十几年的英语,仍然无法开口说一口流利英语,因此要学好口语,一定要输入基础上增加输出。鉴于环境在输出中起着一个重要的影响,所以要创造良好的口语习得环境。文章略论了英语角这一特殊环境在大学生英语口语学习中所起的影响及值得利用的价值,希望因此有更多的学生意识到其重要性,积极到英语角练习口语。同时作者还提出应该如何参加英语角活动以及根据英语角自身的不足,提出一些促进英语角对口语影响的建议和具体的操作方法。 1. Introduction “Language is a complex and dynamic system of conversational symbol used in various modes for communication and thought. The essential purpose of language is communication.”[1]However, many Chinese college students, who have learned English for so many years, are still unable to attain the fluency in oral English. By explaining reasons from the angle of input and output, the author points out when everyone attaches great importance on the function of input on oral English, everyone should not neglect the function of output in oral English and the fact that environment plays an important role in it. Besides, this paper describes the function of English corner on oral English for college students in detail. On the basis of it, this essay elaborates on how to attend it as well as makes some suggestions to improve English corner. In short, the paper aims at raising everyone’s attention on English corner which plays an important role on oral English. 2. The necessities of developing English corner 2.1 Theoretical foundation of input-output model According to information-processing theory, “information is processed through a series of stages, each of which performs a unique function.”[2] It includes three stages: input, central processing and output. Input provides a learner language materials and necessary feedback as well as triggers the learners’ noticing. As for the central processing stage, after input language information being comprehended, analyzed, it is integrated into the learner’s language structure.
