1.1 Background of the thesis
The 21st Century is an era full of knowledge, information and theinternationalization. Domestic and international economic and social development willmove forward at high speed. With the further development and prosperity of Chinesesociety, exchanging with foreign countries will be more frequent. English is one of theimportant information carriers, which undoubtedly plays a special and an important rolein the new century. It just opens a window to the world,英语论文,so English is becoming moreand more prominent.College English is an important subject of higher education in China. It is acompulsory course for all non-English majors. English, as an important subject todiscipline school level and cultivate modem talents of technology, has been attachedgreat importance by all kinds of higher vocational college (HVC). However, in recentyears, with plenty of talents exported to foreign countries and social evaluation on HVCtalents quality, a lot of problems come out, especially in English Teaching. Such as asingle and dull method of teaching, students' narrow scope of knowledge, low practicalapplication of language skills in English, and poor ability of processing occupationrelated business, and so on. After graduation, if students encounter the industrydownturn or reduction in employing demand, they are unable to resist the employmentrisk. In that case, students lack sustainable development affereffect, so that they can notadapt the development of the times.

1.2 Purpose and Significance of the Thesis
The reason why autonomous learning has become one of the hot issues in the fieldof educational research is that the autonomous learning is not only the goal of education,but also the means of education practice (Bound, 1988).Autonomous learning isregarded as a high-level learning. Researchers are concerned how they can improvestudents learning achievement by enhancing self-regulation ability of students, sostudents can become effective learners. Autonomous learning strategies not only helpimprove students' achievements, but also lay the solid foundation for their lifelonglearning and development in the learning society.Choosing higher vocational college students as the research subjects, this papertries to find out their current situation of autonomous learning in English, and to explorethe reasons influencing autonomous learning situation. It is proved that it has importantpractical significance.Therefore, in this paper,英语毕业论文,we choose the sophomore of Hubei College of ChineseMedicine as the research subjects. Their English autonomous learning conditions areinvestigated and then the reasons which cause the problems in the current situation ofEnglish autonomous learning are also analyzed. According to the theory of autonomouslearning, we recognize the essence, structure and the law of development of thestudents' learning strategy from the new angle, so as to develop students' learninginitiative and consciousness in practice, and to cultivate autonomous learning strategy.Thus teachers have to improve the traditional teaching methods, and are advocated toestablish a new teaching model of autonomous learning.From another aspect, the results of this study can effectively guide the students' toscientifically use autonomous learning strategies, arouse interest in learning English,a
