The First Amendment protects expression, be it of the popular variety or not.” So it was a victory for the Boy Scouts of America. Or was it' The decision that upheld the Boy Scout’s right of association has, unfortunately, resulted in some very negative responses. For upholding their right of association the Boy Scouts of America has encountered attacks of negative comments from civil liberty groups, pessimistic comments from religious sects, withdrawing of contributions from the United Way, and definitely disconcerting responses from homosexuals. The way in which the principle applies to the controversy now is that different groups don’t want to associate with the Boy Scouts of America. It pains the Boy Scouts of America that so many people do not understand the reasoning of not allowing homosexuals to be leaders in scouting units. The scouting principles have not suddenly changed either. These principles have been around since 1910 and are fundamental to the scouting movement. Discontinuing funding for the Boy Scouts will not discontinue scouting. There will always be the spirit of scouting and the values and morals that it has always stood for. The right of association is powered by choice, the most sacred of all human abilities. The creator of the universe bestows choice on mankind. And the choice to associate with those that believe the same as you do and have the same morals and values as you do is a God-given right, undeniable by any man. Association is the reflective expression of those you associate with, upon yourself. 网站原创范文除特殊说明外一切图文作品权归所有;未经官方授权谢绝任何用途转载或刊发于媒体。, |
