As an advanced country, Canada has been remaining its front-runner status in economic, science even military affairs. Although the overall social security in Canada is good and the society remains stable, nevertheless, just like many other countries, there are still a number of factual issues that require serious attention. As far as I can see, the most important issues facing Canadian society are following ones: Public security problems with gun control, immigration issue and educational issue. In this modern and advancing world, these problems are not been solved, what’s worse, the situation is getting much more intense. In this , I should do a brief analysis to discuss that based on some reading and film resources.

The gun violence remains to be a severe issue in many western countries, especially in the North America. Every year many people get hurt or die because of gunfire, there are also people who suicide. The murder rate of gunfire keeps going upwards, which lead to panic of civil. The most common location of homicide and violence in Canada is the urban area. In the metropolitan area, in every 100000 people, there were 6.1 murders, in contrast to non-metropolitan county only 3.5. The incidence of homicide between the ages of 18 to 24 years of age is gradually falling from 1993, but still higher than the rate of 1980 years ago. According to 2017 statistics, the age group of 24 to 17 years of age group of violent crime statistics still accounts for the bulk of the overall data, especially the homicide involving firearms. Since the gun itself on the situation has a potentially lethal abilities, so regardless of the victims or perpetrators with guns with guns, it is dangerous for the public. As a result, it is possible casualty probability increases greatly.

So why does this issue happen in Canada-a developed and strong country? In the first place, the law has its own leaks. Public security of gun control has been legal problems all the time, regardless of the fact that society on the proliferation of firearms has been strongly opposed, but prohibited firearms in Canada is very difficult to implement, which is on to legal reason. Canada is a democratic state, and it is legally allowed that citizens can hold a gun after registering, and if the president wishes to limit the gun he must change its constitution, which is opposed by most of Canadians. There are some parties called for limiting the shotgun, yet are still in debate now and difficult to implement. In addition, after all those wars, such as the Gulf War, the Kosovo War, the Iraq War and so on, Canadian teenagers have seen so much violence, which affect a lot on their views of war. They have questions about whether being a peacekeeper or a war fighter. And we are living in a world full of terror, in the horrific 9/11, Canadians have bored such great losses. “It is evident that Canada needs to execute some missions to protect itself from the threat posed by the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, but it also can be exaggerated.” (Afghanistan, Mission Impossible, pg.44) Ironically, even the Taliban does pose some threats to Canadian troops in Afghanistan or Iraq, they do not put those on the existence of Canada, invasion is not their purpose. “On the contrary, the government’s attitude indulges violent people to proceed some bad things.”(Afghanistan, Mission Impossible, pg.44)

Because of the historical reasons, Canada's national composition is the structure of diversification. Every major nation in the world, you can find it in Canada. The first Canadians are Aboriginal people and Inuit people. “Oddly, until after World War Ⅱ, Canada was not a major immigrant magnet. That is not to say that there were no immigrants or foreigners,  as immigrants were then commonly labelled. ”(Harold Troper, pg.335) Over the left, in the years before World War Ⅱ, it has its own immigrant neighborhood. But, “compared to today, fuelled by globalization,” (Harold Troper, pg.336) many Asians and Africans choose to immigrate to Canada for its beautiful scenery and vast land, also some parents send their children to study further in Canada. In the past few years, immigration is so important in many cities in Canada like Toronto, immigration makes it a modern city. Bring the diversification of Canadian national, racial composition of the culture of the rich diversity and the harmonious co-existence of different ethnic, racial, cultural pluralization characteristic become Canada and other immigration countries the most significant distinguishing mark. Thus, even the country has inclusivity, different cultures still have many conflicts which need to be reconciled. If not handled well, these conflicts may finally cause the extinction of one certain culture, which does harm to multiculturalism. Also, some people are assimilated by local people and forget their own culture and traditions, we can call it as “genocide”. The genocide question is urgent to reflect on especially for Aboriginal. It seems like that the Canadian federal government in partnership with the Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian and United Churches, commit genocide against Aboriginal by attempting to forcibly assimilate them in residential schools.
