摘要

话语标记语是一种重要的语言现象,无时无刻不存在于言语交际中,近年来也一直是语言学探讨的一个重要课题。自1980年起,学者们对话语标记语进行了大量的探讨。话语标记语的存在并不会对话语的内容造成作用,而是对话语的构建以及理解起影响,因而对话语标记语的探讨有着重要的理论意义和现实意义。近年来,学者们逐渐把探讨视角转向话语标记语的语用功能上。尽管前人对话语标记语的探讨硕果累累,但是少有人基于脱口秀的语料进行探讨。由于脱口秀中频繁的出现话语标记语You Know,本探讨将基于美国广受欢迎的艾伦秀作为语料来源,略论出You Know的语用功能。
本文将采取实证探讨和理论略论相结合的探讨措施。首先,对艾伦秀进行台本转化并探讨其语料,英语论文,总结出话语标记语You Know的语用功能。其次,根据关联理论,解释并举例论证这些语用功能。最后提出You Know在脱口秀中的五个主要的语用功能:第一,You Know可以增强认知共性;第二,You Know具有话语修复功能;第三,You Know有提醒的功能;第四,You Know可以缓解人际联系;第五,You Know具有幽默效应。前四个功能均是在前人探讨的基础上总结出来的,第五个功能为作者提出You Know在脱口秀中的新功能,即幽默效应。理论上讲,本文的探讨对话语标记语的探讨做出了贡献,并对关联理论解释You Know的探讨做了补充。从实际意义上来看,希望本文的探讨可以对对二语习得者理解与使用You Know有所帮助。

Abstract

Discourse markers are very common linguistic phenomenon, which exist in daily communications. Since the 1980s, the study of discourse markers has aroused linguistics’ interest. In lieu of influencing the propositional meaning of the utterance, discourse markers only affect the construction of the utterance and the understanding of it. Studying discourse markers has theoretically as well as practically significance. In recent years, researchers gradually turn to find out the pragmatic functions of discourse markers. Since the discourse marker you know is frequently appeared in talk show, the thesis aims to explore pragmatic functions of the discourse marker you know in talk show.
The dissertation combines case study with theoretical analysis as research method. The data of the study are collected from the Ellen Show. Then by observing and analyzing you know in conversations, pragmatic functions are pointed out. After that, based on the assumption of pragmatic functions of you know, the researcher reviews relevance theory to support the assumption with the help of the data. As a result, five main functions are summarized: First, you know has the function of raising cognitive mutuality. Second, you know serves as utterance repair. Third, you know reminds people of information. Fourthly, you know promotes interpersonal relationship. At last, you know creates humorous effect. Theoretically, the result of the thesis will be supplementary to the research of discourse markers in that a new function of you know has been discovered, which is creating humorous effect. Practically, It is hoped that the study is helpful to the acquisition of you know by the second language learners and contributes to the study of discourse markers.
