Abstract: According to the close relations between China and the rest of the world, the business activities are undergoing a significant period, in which English correspondence plays an important role. It’s not enough for a businessman to master only the cooperative words. He should know all kinds of the methods to process the business activities. As one category of them, refusal is absolutely necessary, and business refusal letters often give a good example for those men who are elite. There is no doubt that both sides want to reach a win-win achievement. Thus and naturally, most businessmen spare no efforts to learn to appeal to each other. Whatsoever, we have to refuse some inquiries along with meeting mutual needs. The analysis in this article can give the business persons who are in charge of business correspondence some reliable theories and useful suggestions. That is to say, a series of mistakes and errors can be avoided. In this paper, it gives analysis to some business refusal letters under the frame of cooperative principle, which talks about the rules obeyed by the two sides of people in a dialogue.
