An Approach to the Traditional Values of China and Britain through a Comparative Analysis of the Characters of Xiang Yu and King Arthur
Abstract
In the fantasies of several thousand years of world history, humans have experienced ups and downs as political powers appeared and disappeared. Mao Zedong once said, “The people are the author of the history.” And among the people there is a batch of the elites, they stand on the top of the world and made their own way out to make achievements. With all their effort they fight for their ideal, even willing to sacrifice their lives. They are the strong ones in history and take an important position in their own culture.
This thesis employs the theory of cultural development and inheritance as the theoretical basis and mainly focuses on the traditional values of China and Britain by analyzing Xiang Yu and King Arthur, the two classic tragic heroes in the history of China and Britain. The thesis first lists some of the major events of King Arthur and makes some analysis, then makes a discussion on the classic events of Xiang Yu’s life. Afterwards the thesis made a comparison based on the analysis to see the similarities and differences between the two. At the end the thesis makes an extension to discuss on the traditional values of China and Britain, such as the morality of brotherhood in China, and the knighthood of Britain

摘 要
毛泽东曾经说过：“人民是历史的缔造者。”在光辉灿烂的几千年世界史当中，人类经历过了无数的跌宕起伏，一个个帝国兴起繁荣而又衰落。而在普罗大众中间，有一批杰出的代表人物，他们立足潮头，英语毕业论文，指点江山；出入刀光剑影，为自己的理想拼尽全力一生不悔。他们都是各自历史中的强者，代表了那一段璀璨历史的精华，在延续至今的文化当中，占有重要的地位。
本文以文化发展与传承为理论依据，以案例略论为探讨措施，以项羽和亚瑟王两位中英历史中的经典悲剧英雄人物为典型，致力于探讨两个人身上所体现出的中英传统英雄主义价值观的体现。文章首先列举了亚瑟王一生中的一些经典事例并加以略论，其次列举出项羽一生中的两大关键点并加以略论。然后在两者的略论之上进行对比，得出两者性格当中的相同点和不同点，最后进行延展，延伸到中英两国的传统价值观对比参照，如中国传统价值观中的情义，英国传统价值观的骑士精神等等。
