Bilingual public sign's translation is a cross-language and cross-cultural exchange activities, which directly reflects the quality of the whole city. With the rapid development of economy in China, the communication between China and foreign countries has been promoted. And as the number of people all around the world coming to China is on the increase, public signs play more and more important roles for foreigners in public places. Therefore we should pay more attention to the correctness of the translation of public signs. The present paper gives an analysis of the problems of C-E translation of public signs in Nanjing public places by using a large number of examples from three perspectives, that is, the English grammar, misnomer, cultural difference of the C-E translation between Chinese and Western. And at last, some constructive views are put forward. |
