Abstract
With the development of internationalization of movie market, films not only satisfy audience’s mental needs but also reflect the culture of its country. A perfect film can find people’s support and thinking in the understanding of its culture.
The complexes reflected from films are the important parts of film culture, which base on the social formation of that time. Conversely, these complexes reflect the social ideology of that time. So, we can understand the theme culture by analyzing the complexes in the films.
English film, The King’s Speech, draws from royal court, but the main reason of its popular is the populace complex reflected from it. So the understand of English culture can be deep through the analysis of populace complex. This paper will analyze the populace complex and the core spirits of the populace complex by researching the film and combining the relevant western and Chinese theories. The core spirits of the populace complex are equality, freedom and responsibility, which exist both in the film and in contemporary English. At the end of this paper, the existence and influence of these core spirits combing the film and reality will be analyzed.
This paper expects to increase awareness of Chinese to English culture by the analysis of the populace complex from The King’s Speech. At the same time, this result of the paper will provide some contributions to the culture analysis from the film aspect.
