1. Introduction
    The number of the modern English word is the largest of the world. With the development of society, the amount of word constantly increases. It has become a real headache to an English teacher in middle school. “No matter how well the student learns grammar, no matter how successfully he masters the sounds of a L2, without words to express a wide range of meanings, communication in that language can not happen in any meaningful way.” (张维友,2017:1) But English teacher tends to overlook the importance of the lexical system. Especially in Middle school, some teachers teach words by one word to one Chinese equivalent word. This phenomenon might have resulted from the fact that linguists have worked out a perfect Chinese word system equivalent to English vocabulary system本英语毕业论文由英语论文网/. Thus, teachers and students can more easily deal with the word than the grammar of English. The increasing number of English teacher overemphasize the learning of grammar, structure and sound and they often neglect the feature of word and the different culture between Chinese and English. This often leads student to learn some wrong methods of learning English .There are several aspects that need to be taken into account when teaching word. In elementary education, the English curriculum stimulates and trains student’s interest of studying English as to make them have self-confidence. Good studying habit and the effective studying strategy and develop independent study ability and cooperation spirit so that to get English elementary knowledge and skills of speaking, reading, writing and listening ability .To train student to observe, remember and image ability with本英语毕业论文由英语论文网/ innovation. Finally, this can help students to understand the different culture between China and the West. In the paper, I will discuss the importance of word teaching in middle school, the problems of traditional word teaching methods and give some suggestions of word teaching methods.
