Chapter I    Introduction  

1.1 The background of the study
With  more  and  more  people  realising  its  importance,  English  has  become  the first  language  around  the  world.Every  language  has  four  skills,that  is,  listening, speaking,reading  and  writing.  In  many  situations,  speaking  is  considered  as  a  skill from  which  a  person  is  judged  at  first  sight.  So  many  people  are  trying  to  learn  a foreign language just to communicate with native speakers. Therefore, oral English is worthy  to  be  paid  more  attention  to  than  before.  Since  learning  oral  English  is obviously important, oral English teaching must draw our enough attention. English is treated as a compulsory course at elementary schools,middle schools and universities in  China.Many  people,including  educators,English  teachers,are  all  concerned  about how  to  teach  English.  They  all  wonder  what  is  the  most  important  for  an  English learner and in what way we should teach our students.Luckily,with time going on,they gradually come to a conclusion,that is, the students should be language users instead of  just  learners.They  must  use  the  language  to  express  themselves.So,it  is  necessary that we put oral English teaching at an important position . Besides,New Curriculum Standard also points out : Based on the communicative demands and acquisition level of high school students, English teaching should focus on  the  following  linguistic  abilities  of  students:using  English  in  communication properly;obtaining  and  doing  with  information  in  English;analysing  and  solving problems  in  English;judgemental  thought.Under  our  limited  circumstances,  oral communicative  ability  of  the  students  can  be  developed  only  through  English  oral teaching.

1.2  Existing  problems  of  oral  English  teaching  in  Mongolian  middle schools 
In  Mongolian  areas,educational  authorities  has  paid  more  and  more  attention  to basic education,especially English education. In our teaching systems,we usually have English morning classes,and organise English Corners regularly in most schools.Some schools even hold oral English competitions.All of these have shown that oral English has  drawn  more  attention  than  before.However,  because  of  the  big  pressing environment,there still exists some worrying problems in oral English teaching. Affected  by  teaching  conventions,  both  teachers  and  students  don’t  pay  enough attention  to  the  application  of  oral  English.W,英语论文题目英语毕业论文
