It is awidespread phenomenon in the English teaching that “teachers speak more, students practiceless". Lack of interpersonal communication, many students have lost interest in learningEnglish. In this case, high school English teaching needs the introduction of a new learningmethod—cooperative learning.As one of the contemporary mainstream Education theories and strategies, cooperativelearning is a learning style that the new curriculum reform in China actively advocates,organizes and implements. Cooperative learning starting in the United States is a product ofthe specific historical circumstances. Nowadays, cooperative learning advocatedin high school English teaching has become an important learning style and achieved somesuccess.Thanks to the application of cooperative learning, there is a new look in seniorEnglish class. As we have expected, it largely improves students' achievements and the abilityof using the English language.
English class teaching is not a stimulated reaction, but a process of a positiveconstruction, an active experience,a consultation by communication and a cooperation insharing. Cooperative learning makes group members with different levels of wisdom,knowledge, cognitive styles and ways of thinking inspire and complement each other toachieve collisions on the thought and wisdom so as to create new perception and completelearning tasks by teamwork. Cooperative learning students can respect each other, brainstormand share resources; it can fully reflect interpersonal relations and exchange activities between groups in classes; it can concern each student's individual development.
