Research on lexical repetition models in English reading of senior school


基于Hoey词汇重复模式理论的新的阅读教学措施是可行的,它能够提高学生阅读能力,可以培养学生语篇框架下的词汇理解意识,英语论文范文,从而帮助学生快速的把握文章主题或概括文章主题,对学生从整体上理解文章是有益的。

1.1 Research Background
Nowadays,with the high development of information technology in recent years, English becomes one of the most communicative tools in the world.And reading is an important skill among the four basic language skills(listening,speaking,reading and writing)that can really show a language learner’s language competence.In china, English is not the second language,but a foreign language.Compared with the second language,it lacks the authentic language learning circumstances.Therefore,much importance has been attached to reading–teaching.Since last century,many scholars and teachers have carried out many researches on reading teaching approach.During the past decades,English reading teaching methods have gone through changes and acquired much improvement in China,however,there are few breakthroughs,and the present English reading teaching for senior school teachers still focus on traditional teaching methods(PPP teaching method-presentation,practice and production,and grammar-translation method)in English reading class,in which students are just passive receivers of knowledge and the reading class is just like text-translation class. These teaching methods can’t arouse the students’activeness and interests in English reading.The effective reading teaching approach can teach students how to comprehend the reading material accurately as well as develop students’English reading skill efficiently.A good reading teaching approach can help students form good reading habits and scientific learning methods.
The Syllabus of middle school requires the senior school students to lay a good foundation for further improvement in English.So we know that the main task in middle school English teaching is to train students’reading ability.Besides,reading is the main way of getting information,and teachers as well as learners should recognize the importance of English reading.In senior schools,English reading teaching is the main activity in English class,and the way for senior school students to learn English.
Reading ability is the sign of determining whether the students can mastercomprehensive competence of language.However,at present,almost all English teachers in senior schools deal with English reading by means of intensive reading- that is,they focus on pronunciation,vocabulary,and grammatical structures.Teachers always translate,or explain the text before students read it,they hold the view that students will get a thorough understanding of the whole text if they explain every phrases well and get the sentences meaning understood.They spend much time in explaining the usage of individual words and the structure of a sentence.With this kind of teaching method,students’grammar knowledge is increased,but their reading ability is still poor.All these turn students into passive readers.As a result,teachers can’t help students to develop their independent reading abilities and skills.When reading alone,they are not sure what they have read,with a feeling that they do not have sufficient language knowledge to interpret the text.So they become frustrated and anxious when they read for lacking of confidence in their own reading abilities.
