With the development of technology, culture and economy, the demand for English for Specific Purposes is expanding, espe-cially in China where international communication becomes morefrequent these years. Even though many institutions and universi-ties offer ESP courses for senior students, for years the instructionhas been limited to specialized lexicon and sentence structures, anapproach which may ignore the learners' personal interests. Thisoften leads to poor performance when they use English in their fu-ture career. Thus it is significant to help learners adapt to the com-petitive world, which infers that university English faculties needto design ESP courses that can best suit learners' needs for their fu-ture professional communication. This thesis puts forward a sample ESP course framework inacademic English writing for pharmaceutical university studentsand analyzes the elements of ESP course design: needs analysis;course goals and objectives; course details; materials design; andfinally, Assessment and evaluation. The author intends to exempli-fy the current situation of Academic English writing of Collegestudents especially those in specific major like pharmacy.
