多角度中外同级政府官网英文版对比探讨:以中国河北与美国犹他为例[英语论文]

摘要:

政府网站外文版已成为网络时代塑造地方品牌,服务国际友人的最佳界面,建设并推广符合国际化标准的多语种政府网站,关于地方市场拓展和良性发展的意义十分重大。中国政府网站国际化程度评比已进行多届,然而各级政府外文网站建设良莠不齐,总体远远落后中文网站。鉴于此,本文将以河北省政府官网英文版“中国河北”和美国政府网站评比中处于前列的犹他州政府网站进行多角度评析,以目的论和变译、归化等翻译理论为指导,英语论文题目,以点带面对我国政府网站国际化建设提出建设性意见,以求对优化我国政府网站外文版建设提供借鉴。

Abstract:

The English version of government official website has already been the optimal interface to shape the local brand and serve friends abroad in the internet era. To construct and promote multilingual government websites with international standards is playing a significant role in expanding local markets and stepping into a sound development track. Although there have many appraisals of evaluating the internationalization of Chinese government websites, the English websites of government at different levels are constructed unevenly, lagging far behind Chinese version websites. Thus, this thesis will take the English websites of The people’s Government of Hebei Province “Hebei,China” and “Utah.US” that locates in the front row during the appraisement of American government websites as cases to analyze from multi-angle. Under the guidance of relevant translation theories such as Skopos theory, domestication, and variation etc, the author will let one unit guide the whole area and will make several constructive suggestions for the internationalization building of our government websites, which will provide certain references to optimize Chinese government English websites.

1. Introduction
  1.1 Background
With the deepening of economic globalization and popularization of the Internet, especially after China’s entry to WTO, the English version of government official website has already been the optimal interface and the first window to shape the city brand and serve friends abroad in the internet era. To construct and promote multilingual government websites with international standards is playing a significant role in expanding local markets and stepping into a sound development track. Although there have many appraisals of evaluating the internationalization of Chinese government websites, the English websites of China at different levels are constructed unevenly, lagging far behind Chinese version websites. Still, many designs of the Chinese government English websites don’t conform to the expectation and reading habits of foreign people; many non-formal languages exist in the websites such as unusual spelling of proper nouns, Chinglish, grammar mistakes and redundancy etc, which are far beyond the foreigners’ understanding. It indicates that Chinese local governments do not attach great importance to the process of official English websites.
