Abstract
In the process of translation, rewriting is inevitable. Pound’s rewriting theory originated from Manipulative school forerunner Lefevere. The theory breaks the notion of absolute faithfulness to the source text. As a successful poet and translator, Pound made much contribution in spreading Chinese ancient poetry and Confucianism. He holds the idea that translation is to rewrite the source text. Under such notion, his works of translation has aroused people’s attention all over the world.
This thesis aims to study the translation of Chinese poetry by Ezra Pound through rewriting theory, and make an objective evaluation and summary of Pound’s translation, the influence of is works, and his enlightenment in the translation field. The first chapter states the definition of the rewriting theory. According to Lefevere, three factors operate in the process of rewriting, which are ideology, poetics and patronage. The first two factors manipulate the inherent choices and decisions of the rewriter, while patronage generally dominates the rewriter under the influence of social power. The second chapter makes a brief introduction to Ezra Pound, makes comments on the relationship between Pound and Chinese culture and literature, and analyzes his translation ideas. In the third chapter, Pound’s creative rewriting of the Chinese classic poems viewed from rewriting theory and his achievements in translating them are discussed.

翻译过程中不可避免会对原文进行改写。庞德的改写理论最早源于操纵派先驱勒菲弗尔。该理论打破了翻译过程中对原文本的绝对忠实。作为一名成功的诗人兼译者,英语论文范文,庞德为传扬中国古诗和儒家学说做出了重要贡献。他认为,翻译是对原文本进行改写。在这样的理念下,其译作在全球引起广泛关注。
这篇论文旨在通过改写理论探讨庞德对汉语古诗的翻译,并对庞德的翻译、其译作的作用以及在译界的启迪意义做出客观的评价和总结。第一章对改写理论的定义做出陈述。勒菲弗尔认为,改写过程中有三大因素:意识形态、诗学理念和赞助人。前两大因素作用着改写者的内在选择和决定,而赞助人一般在社会主力的作用下主导着改写者。第二章介绍了埃兹拉•庞德,研讨了他与中国文化和文学的联系,并略论了庞德的翻译思想。第三章研讨了在改写理论视角下庞德对汉语古诗的创造性改写,以及庞德在汉语诗歌翻译上所取得的成就。
