摘 要
英语和汉语分属于不同的语系，有着各自不同的文化背景和语言特色，那么英语的平行结构和汉语排比作为这两种语言各自所拥有的特殊修辞手法，他们之间又有哪些异同呢？事实上，英语平行结构和汉语排比之间有很多相似之处，这也是本文探讨的一个基础。在具体的翻译以及对比探讨实践中，立足于两者的相同点，找出两者的异同是英汉文化交流成功的关键。中国的英语学习者在理解和翻译的过程中必须掌握两者在语言形式和语义上的异同。为此，本文将《谈读书》中的英语平行结构和王佐良先生译本中的汉语排比进行对比，然后从各自的语言特色出发对其存在的异同进行解释，英语毕业论文，英语毕业论文，从而列出几点在实际理解和翻译过程中，中国的英语学习者应该注意的事项，以克服在翻译过程中因语言文化不同而形成的障碍。

Abstract
As are two different languages, English and Chinese respectively have different cultural backgrounds and linguistic characteristics, so do the parallel structures in English and Chinese (English parallelism and Chinese paibi). Then, what are the differences between the English parallelism and Chinese paibi? As two rhetorical tools, English parallelism and Chinese paibi have many similarities which are the basis for this study. The purpose of this thesis is to find the key to the success of English-Chinese cultural exchange, which is finding the difference between English and Chinese. Thus in the process of translation, learners must master the differences of these two languages in form and meaning. Through the close study of Of Studies and its Chinese version, this thesis will point out the differences between English parallelism and Chinese paibi. In order to further our research, this thesis will try its hand at exploring the origins of these differences from their own language characteristics and cultural backgrounds. Then, the thesis will list a few points for language learners to help them overcome the barriers of different languages and cultures.

1 Introduction
Parallel structure, one of the common phenomena in syntactic relations, manifests themselves in different forms in different languages. This thesis makes a contrastive study of parallel structures in English and Chinese, in terms of English parallelism and Chinese paibi. As two different rhetorical tools, English parallelism and Chinese paibi have been mistakenly believed for equivalent terms according to Li Guonan (2017). Then, what are the differences between English parallelism and Chinese paibi? This thesis aims to find the answer this question by the close study of Of Studies by Francis Bacon (2017: 229-230) and its Chinese version by Wang Zuoliang (1998, cited in Qiao Ping and Rong Hongwei, 2017: 456-459), and to evaluate and enrich the previous contrastive studies of English parallelism and Chinese paibi.
