摘 要
在当今世界舞台上,中国扮演着越来越重要的角色,越来越多的外国人想更加全面地了解中国,尤其是中国的文化。中餐因其精良的制作措施和丰富的食材而久负盛名,饮食文化是一个民族不可分割的一部分。因此,向国外旅游者和对中国文化有浓厚兴趣的国际友人介绍中国的饮食文化是英语学习者和翻译者的一项重要使命,因而对中国特色食物名称的翻译也是值得深入研讨和探讨的。中式菜名的翻译不能追求机械的语义对应,英语论文,英语毕业论文,也没有固定的套路,应根据不同的时间、地点、场合以及不同的服务对象和不同的目的而灵活选择不同的翻译措施,实现处理的多样化。译者在翻译中式菜名时不仅要考虑外国客户的点菜方便,也要适当保留菜名原有的中国特色,翻译时必须遵循一些相关的准则。本文试图阐述中国菜名英译的策略。

Abstract
China plays an increasingly important role on the world stage today. More and more foreigners want to fully understand China, especially the culture of China. Chinese food is famous for its sophisticated production methods and rich ingredients. Diet culture is an indivisible part of a nation. So, it is an important mission for English learners and translators to introduce the culture of Chinese food to the foreign tourists and international friends that have strong interest in the culture of China. Thus the translation of Chinese specialties is also worthy of further exploration and research. There is no fixed routine. Translators should choose the methods according to the time, place, purpose and people to achieve to the diversification. Translator in the translation of Chinese dishes names is not only to consider whether it is convenient to foreign customers, but also appropriate to retain the characteristics of Chinese dishes. It requires that people follow the principles of translation.

1 Introduction

Chinese food is famous for its sophisticated production methods and rich ingredients. Diet culture is an indivisible part of a nation. In short, diet culture exchange is the most direct, most closely related to daily life.
1.1 The background
The proverb says, “Hunger breeds discontentment”. There are five characteristics of Chinese dishes’ names. First, a large number of homophonic words replace raw materials. Second, a large number of words are used of metaphor and other rhetorical devices. Third, a large number of words are idioms. Fourth, the names of Chinese dishes are auspicious. Fifth, many names of Chinese dishes are taken from the history, politicals, religion and cultural allusions. So, it is an important mission for English learners and translators to introduce the culture of Chinese food to the foreign tourists and international friends that have strong interest in the culture of China. Thus the translation of Chinese specialties is also worthy of further exploration and research. It cannot pursue the semantics of the corresponding mechanical when we translate the Chinese dishes. In the meanwhile, there is no fixed routine.
