Abstract
This paper mainly studies the lexical characteristics of legal English and combines with specific cases to sum up the useful methods of legal documents’ translation. Through the study of foreign words (including words from Old French and Latin) as well as Old and Middle English, this paper analyzes the conservatism of legal English; by means of the study of modal verbs, this paper analyzes the authority of legal English; with the help of the study of legal terminology and the application of nominalization and pronouns, this paper analyzes the precision of legal English. Then with the typical examples in real life, this paper introduces the criteria of legal translation and discusses the necessary techniques and methods in the process of translation, including adoption of exact and typical words, combination of synonyms and near synonyms as well as adoption of passive voice.

本文旨在探讨法学英语的词汇特征,英语论文题目,结合具体案例浅析法学英语翻译的对策,对英汉法学文献的互译技巧、措施进行简要的总结与归纳。本文首先通过研讨外来词(来自于古法语和拉丁语的词汇)以及古体词(来自于古英语和中古英语的词汇)略论了法学英语的保守性;通过研讨法学英语中情态动词的使用情况略论了法学英语的权威性;通过研讨法学专业术语、名词化、代词在法学英语中的运用和影响略论法学英语的精确性。此外,本文简单介绍了法学翻译的标准,并结合实际生活中的典型翻译事例,讨论在进行法学文献中英文互译的过程中需要具备的条件、技巧,包括使用准确典型的词汇进行翻译,英语论文题目,同义词、近义词的组合以及被动语带的运用。

Legal English is an instrumental language. There are many different definitions of legal English. According to many scholars’ opinions, legal English is a special style of English which is used by lawyers, jurists and other legal professionals of common law system in the course of their work in English-speaking countries, like Great Britain, America, Canada, Australia, India, and New Zealand and so on. It has particular relevance when applied to legal writing and the drafting of written material, including: legal documents (such as contracts, licenses, etc.), court pleading (such as summonses, briefs, judgements, etc.), laws (such as acts of parliaments, subordinate legislation, case reports) and legal correspondence.
