Abstract: With the rapid development of economy and culture, more and more English movies have appeared in Chinese market in recent years. Therefore the translation of English movie titles plays an important role in cultural communication. Creative treason, as a translation strategy by translators, sometimes can gain good comments by the public. Some wonderful film title translations are the icing on the cake for the films and also provide commercial and cultural value for movie propaganda. This paper aims at elaborating on the necessity of creative treason in the translation of English movie titles from the differences of Western and Chinese languages, cultures and thoughts, analyzing how creative treason is realized through specific translation methods in the translation of English movie titles, and finding out the effect of creative treason by looking at some university students’ acceptance of the creatively translated English movie titles. This study may prove helpful for translators when they deal with this type of translation work.

摘 要: 随着经济和文化的快速发展，近些年来越来越多的英语电影出现在中国市场。因此电影片名翻译在文化交流过程中有着举足轻重的影响。在电影片名翻译中，创造性叛逆作为译者的一种翻译策略能为影片增色不少。绝妙的电影片名翻译能为影片锦上添花，并在电影宣传中具有商业和文化价值。此篇论文从中西方语言，文化，思想异同因素中略论了创造性叛逆在电影片名中的必要性，然后通过电影片名翻译中的特殊翻译措施来略论创造性叛逆是如何被认可的。然后通过对大学生在被译的英语电影片名中的接受程度找出创造性叛逆的效果。这个探讨，在译者处理此类著作时，英语论文题目，英语论文范文，能够给予一定的帮助。

Creative treason is an approach in the translation activities, especially in the translation of English movie titles. This paper will explain the reasons for creative treason and meanwhile discuss how creative treason is realized through specific translation methods in the translation of English movie titles and evaluate the effect of creative treason in the translation of English movie titles.
With the process of globalization and the increasing exchange between Chinese and Western cultures, more and more English movies blend into our markets. The Chinese translation of a movie title directly influences whether this movie has enough competitive advantage. It is observed that creative treason, as an approach of translation, plays a significant role in the translation of English movie titles. |
