1. Introduction
What are language learning strategies? Why do we need to study it? To put it simply, language learning strategies refer to what the learners think of or make use of when they have any difficulties in learning a language. However it seems that no unanimous opinion has ever been reached on the definition of learning strategies. Especially there has been some confusion of two terms: learning strategies and learner strategies. Therefore these two terms need to be distinguished in the first place. Rubin (1975) holds that learning strategies consist of three essential components: learning strategies, communication strategies and social strategies, while others believe that the two terms mean the same and are interchangeable. In my opinion, both learning strategies and learner strategies refer to what learners employ in the process of learning, and these two terms mean the same except that one stresses on the performer and the other stresses on the performance. Thus, it is acceptable to use either of them in expression. And in the present paper, learning strategy is the term that all discussions are based upon.
