1  Introduction
Jane Austen is considered as one of the most famous female novelists in English literature. She was born in an English small town named Steventon, where her father was a vicar. She was the second daughter and seventh child in a family of eight. Austin didn’t receive formal education, but she received a good family education. Her education was  primarily from her father and older brothers as well as through her own reading. Her interests in reading popular novels laid a solid foundation for her writing career. Austen started to write novels when she was about 20 years old. She first gave the novel its modern character through the daily life. Although Austen was widely read in her life time, she published her works anonymously. Most of her works are about the courtship and marriage of young, well-bred heroines. Austin’s best-known books include Pride and Prejudice(1813) and Emma. George Henry Lewis, who is a literary critic, compares Austen to “Shakespeare in prose”. Virginia Woolf calls her “the most perfect artist among women”.
