塞林格是美国二十世纪一位重要的作家，其代表作《麦田里的守望者》，《九故事》等都是美国文学公认的经典著作。多年来，国内外专家对塞林格著作的探讨可谓汗牛充栋。作为其短篇小说代表作的《逮香蕉鱼的最佳日子》也收获了众多学者的关注。该篇小说应用了多种叙事手法，达到了极高的叙事艺术水平，英语论文题目，巩固了其在世界文坛上的文学价值。

Abstract
J. D. Salinger is one of the most important writers in the 20th century America. His representative works such as The Catcher in the Rye and Nine Stories are considered as classical wroks by the public. For many years critics around the world have dedicated a lot of researches to his works. As an epitome among his short stories, A Perfect Day for Bananafish has induced much attention from the academic world. Several narrative techniques are deployed in this short story, helping it reach a high level of narrative art and increase its literature value.
This thesis will discuss how narrative techniques are applied in the short story on the basis of a careful reading the text and studious study of pertinent literatures. By analyzing the objectives of using these narrative techniques, the thesis will prove the outstanding narrative art achieved by the short story.
Narrative is an intrinsic and indispensable part of novles. The plot, characterization and themes of the novel all depend on narrative. For a short story, narrative is even more significant due to its limited length. Only through skillful narrative techniques can a short story present its plot, characterization and themes properly and attain literature depth within limited text. Fragmentary narrative, objective narrative and multi-plotline narrative are applied in the short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish. These narrative techniques present a plot covering broad time and space, depict the psyche and personalities of different characters and convey rich themes corresponding respectively to several plotlines. Deployment of these narrative techniques not only forge the calibre of this short story, but also create rich and deep reading experience for readers. In all, consummate narrative art is accomplished in A Perfect Day for Bananafish.
