摘要
美国当代著名作家斯蒂芬•金以恐怖小说闻名于世，著作受欧洲哥特小说传统作用很大。然而，不同于一般恐怖小说家，金善于将古老的恐怖题材同美国当代的社会现实结合起来。他的著作常常在恐怖形式下表现出对现实生活的热切关注：小至常人注意不到的东西，大至政治事件。同时，金擅用梦幻、象征、悬念和暗示的方式激发读者的想象，从而在现实生活情境中营造恐怖效果，表现现代人所承受的社会压力和恐惧心态，进而触及人性的善恶以及人们在现实社会中的价值选择等问题。因此，在金的著作中，虽然很多情节是超现实的，但却常能给读者一种身处其境的恐怖感。可以说，在恐怖的形式下，金写出了美国人骨子里的恐惧和美国文化的漏洞。本论文以弗莱的原型批评理论为基础，略论金的《绿里奇迹》一书，从而得出书中主要人物约翰•柯菲是人性善和爱的象征，英语毕业论文，是以《圣经》中的耶稣•基督为原型创作的人物形象，而柯菲上绿里的故事则以耶稣受难为原型。通过对原型的使用，金带读者重回两千多年前耶稣受难的故事情境。在帮助他们释放不安，恐惧情绪的同时，英语论文，促使其思考人性，关注美国当代社会现实：在科技进步与物质富足的今天，什么才能拯救人们内心的孤独与困苦？人性要怎样实现从单极向完整性的回归？对人性善与爱的肯定是金所能提供给当代人最好的答案。

Abstract
Stephen King, the modern American writer, is famous for the horror fiction, and his works are influenced by the traditional European gothic novel. However, different from the ordinary horror novelists, in King’s works, he combines the old horror theme with the American social reality to express the concern of real life: from trifles to political events. At the same time, King is good at using dream, symbol, suspense and suggestion to arouse the reader's imagination, so that he builds the terrorist effect in real life situations. King’s works also show the pressure of contemporary society and people’s fear, and then touch the human nature and the issues of value choice. So in the works, although the majority of plots are surreal, they still can give readers the true terror. In a word, King writes out the deepest fear of Americans and the vulnerability of American culture. In this paper, on the basis of Frye's theory of archetypal criticism, the writer try to analyze the book the green mile, and come to the conclusion: John Coffey is the symbol of goodness and love, and Jesus Christ is his character image. At the same time, the Passion of the Christ is the prototype of John Coffey’s death. Using the prototype, King takes his readers back to the story of Jesus' crucifixion, helping them to release the anxiety and fear, also to think about human nature and contemporary American social reality. What can save people from inner loneliness and hardship? How can human nature realise the return from the unipolar to integrity? Surely goodness and love in human nature are the best answer which King can provide for us.
