Abstract
Sons and Lovers was one of D. H. Lawrence’s famous works, with a strongly autobiographical colour. Literary critics from home and aboard usually focused on researching the formation of Paul’s Oedipus complex, the cause of Paul’s tragic life, Mrs Morel’s narcissism, and the symbolism applied into the novel. However, the distorted love reflected on Paul and the impact of Paul’s mother on the formation of his view on love was concerned mostly.
This thesis would demonstrate the impact of Mrs Morel on the formation of Paul’s love values and the tragedy the distorted love values caused through the role Mrs Morel played on Paul’s childhood and love experiences in youth. The introduction would show the author, D. H. Lawrence, and the work Sons and Lovers. The first part gave a general review of Oedipus complex, and the Oedipus complex reflected on Paul. Then the second and third parts demonstrated the impact of Mrs Morel on Paul’s childhood and Paul’s youth. The forth part analyzed the tragedy which Oedipus complex caused. Finally, the paper concluded that in order to avoid son’s Oedipus complex, the mother should treat the relationship with her husband well and gave the rational love to her son. The thesis mainly analyzed the major impact of Mrs Morel on the formation of Paul’s distorted love through the four parts.

《儿子与情人》是劳伦斯早期的成名著作，带有极强的自传色彩。国内外的文学评论家通常主要围绕保罗恋母情结的形成，保罗悲剧人生的成因，莫瑞尔太太的自恋情结，母子的联系，以及小说中象征手法的应用来探讨。而最受关注的是保罗身上所反映的畸形爱情观，英语毕业论文，以及母亲对畸形爱情观形成的作用。
本文将以莫瑞尔太太为出发点，英语毕业论文，通过母亲对其儿子保罗的童年成长以及恋爱经历中所扮演的角色，略论莫瑞尔太太对其畸形爱情观形成的负面作用。本文将在引言部分简单介绍作者劳伦斯以及《儿子与情人》这部作品。第一部分大概介绍恋母情结，以及保罗身上所反映的恋母情结。第二部分将阐述莫瑞尔太太对保罗童年时代的作用。第三部分阐述母亲对其青年时代的作用。第四部分揭示这种俄狄浦斯情结的悲剧性。最后总结全文，为了避免恋母情结的悲剧性，母亲应该恰当处理夫妻联系和理智正确的对待亲子教育。本文将通过这四部分略论莫瑞尔太太，这一母亲角色，对保罗扭曲爱情观所产生的主导作用。
