Abstract:
The narrative structure and the narrative perspective in Alice Munro’s short story The Bear Came Over the Mountain are unique and novel. In the story, the original linear structure has been changed. Munro combines the memory narrative structure together to make the plot change between the reality and the memory. She shows the readers a different narrative structure. What’s more, Munro adopts the zero focalization perspective. It is convenient for Munro to describe all the characters. She also uses the internal focalization perspective to describe all the plots around the protagonist so that the clue is clear. The article will explain the narrative structure and perspective which are used in the story and will show how Munro used them in the story by anglicizing the main plots which are fragmented.
