摘 要
查尔斯狄更斯是英国著名批判现实主义小说家之一。《远大前程》是查尔斯狄更斯晚期的著作，也是他思想较为成熟的著作。狄更斯的哲学思想之一是环境对人思想的作用。不同的环境可以造就成不同的人。本文将通过略论乔，艾斯黛拉和匹普因为环境的不同而造成的人物性格的变化来进一步了解查尔•斯狄更斯的这一思想及《远大前程》。
本文将分为五部分。第一章引言，英语论文范文，介绍作者，写作背景及《远大前程》这部著作。第二章略论乔的性格。乔是一个普通的铁匠，他过着贫苦的生活却始终善良。第三章略论艾斯黛拉的性格。她被富人收养，跻身上流社会，她十分的高傲，刻薄。在经历变故后，变得善良。第四章略论匹普的性格。匹普从小虽然贫苦却很善良，后来经过一些事情后，命运发生转变，跻身上流社会，变得轻浮，虚荣和自私，最后由于种种原因他的“远大前程”破灭，他开始反省最终恢复了善良的本性。第五章为结语。总结全文内容，英语论文范文，并且提出写作目的。

Abstract
Charles Dickens is one of the most famous British realistic novelists. Great Expectations is his later work, which shows his mature conceptions towards the society. One of Charles Dickens conceptions is environment can influence people’s character, that is, different environments can bring up into different people. We will get a better understanding through analyzing the experiences of Joe, Estella and Pip.
This article includes five chapters. Chapter one is introduction. It will give us a brief introduction of Charles Dickens, the social background and Great Expectations. Chapter two mainly analyses Joe’s personality. Joe is an ordinary blacksmith. He is poor but kindness. Chapter three mainly analyses Estella’s personality. She is adopted by Miss. Havisham and becomes a member of the upper classes. She is haughty and unkind. After Miss. Havisham’s death and an unsuccessful marriage, she recovers her nature. Chapter four analyses the personality of Pip. Pip is very kind when he is a child though his life is poor. Because of some opportunities he becomes a gentleman and he becomes frivolous, vain and selfish. After his great expectations are destroyed, he begins to ponder. At last, Pip recovers his kind nature. Chapter five is conclusion. It will summarize the whole article and point out the purpose of writing.

Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1The Author
Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was born in England and had a difficult childhood, his family being always short of money. In fact his father spent some time in prison. Charles Dickens wrote a lot of famous works such as Pickwick Papers, Hard Times, A Tales of Two Cities, and many of them deal with the injustices upon children such as Great Expectation, Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. It is clear that his unhappy childhood had affected his writing in later life. He is probably Britain’s best-known and best-loved author.In Great Expectation as in his previous works, he makes direct attacks on the capitalist world. But he believes that a hard-working and honest man can achieve his little individual happiness in the capitalist society.
