摘  要

简•奥斯汀是十九世纪英国文学史上最伟大的现实主义小说家之一。她的所有著作主要主题是爱和婚姻英语论文范文,其著作真实反映了社会历史,经济观以及她所处时代女性的社会地位。《傲慢与偏见》是她的代表作之一。她以日常生活为素材,描绘了18世纪末到19世纪初处于保守的英国乡村生活和事态人情。本文主要采用文献资料法,对比法和总结归纳法。本文以小说中四对婚姻为线索,英语论文,略论四段婚姻观,并探索简•奥斯汀的婚姻观。在18世纪,对女性来说,婚姻是获得社会地位和认可的最好出路。但简•奥斯汀在《傲慢与偏见》中,反对男性和女性的不平等,强调婚姻中爱情和金钱地位是不可少的因素,批评了当时的婚姻观。最后说明简•奥斯汀的婚姻观给当今人们的所带来的作用。

Abstract

Jane Austen was one of the distinguished realistic novelists in the nineteenth-century-English literature. In her works, the dominant theme is love and marriage. Her only concern is how a marriageable woman of the gentry could find a “good” husband. As a realistic novelist’s work, her novels actually reflect the social history, the economic realities as well as women’s social status of her times. Pride and Prejudice is one of her masterpieces. In this novel, her wrighting material is based on daily life, describing the beginning of the end of the 18th century to the nineteenth century in a conservative English village life .This paper mainly adopts documentary research method, contrary research method and ducative research method.This paper will analyze four marriages in the novel and explore Austen’s view to marriage. In 18th century, marriage was the best way ,even the only way to get social statues and recognition for women. However, in pride and prejudice, she opposed the unfairness between male and female. She emphasizes on that love,social statues and money are three factors which are not indispensible in marriages and criticises the views on marriage of her time. Finally, it will draw a conclusion and the influence that Austen’s view to marriage bring the modern people.

1 Introduction

Jane Austen was a great English novelist. She was born on December 16, 1775, in the village of Steventon, Hampshire, England. As a daughter of a country clergyman, Austen never entered a formal school, but she was well educated by her family. She received education in practical arts, such as drawing, sewing and piano playing, that were considered the most important skills to women at that time. Besides that, she read a lot of books in her father’s library both the serious and the popular literature of that times, which had great influences on her. At the age of twelve, Austen began to write.
