摘 要
劳伦斯是二十世纪最伟大和具才能的作家之一。他的第三部小说《儿子与情人》更是被大众所熟知。但是在二十世纪早期，劳伦斯被许多学者误解甚至忽视。后来他们意识到劳伦斯的想法是很合理的，而且他的创作手法也想到新颖。在他的小说中，保罗。莫尔这个角色起到了非常关键的影响，因为这个故事是围绕着保罗与他父母亲以及女朋友的联系而展开的。而且这部著作是作者的真实写照，主要揭示了保罗从幼年到成年一直在母亲的掌控和作用下的生活。有许多学者就俄狄浦斯情节的形成，家庭作用，他的两个女朋友的性格特征方面对这部著作开展了讨论。本文着重于略论保罗的意象。从小说主人公的角色出发，从以下方面研讨保罗的意象：1、保罗和身边人的联系，包括他对家人、对女友的态度，以及他对事业的追求；2、保罗意象的形成的原因，英语论文题目，英语论文范文，主要包括父母联系对他的作用、父母的教育措施、保罗对自己的作用，以及当时社会对他的作用。

Abstract
D. H. Lawrence is one of the talented and greatest writers in the twentieth century. His novel Sons and lovers is his third work, which is well-known by people. But in the early of the twentieth century, D. H. Lawrence was neglected and misunderstood by some scholars. However, with increasing degree of mental crisis and bewilderment of the present capitalism, many people realized that his thought was quite reasonable and his writing style was innovative. In this novel, Paul Morel plays an important role, because the story is based on his relationship among his mother, father, girlfriends and himself. He is the clue of the story. And the book is the reflection of his own life, which is based on the protagonist--Paul's life experience, and mainly revealed how he lives under the control and influence of his mother from the childhood to adult. And many scholars have reported this book about formation of Oedipus complex, the influence of the family, the feature of the two girlfriends. This paper mainly focuses on the analysis of the image of Paul. Through the specific research on the role of the protagonist, this paper makes a reasonable conclusion about the image of Paul from the following aspects: first is the relationship with his surroundings including his attitudes to family members, his attitudes to his girlfriends and his pursues for work; second is the reason for the formation of his image including the effect of parents' relationship, the parents' educational methods, the effect of the Paul himself, and the effect of the society in that time.

1 Introduction
Lawrence was born in 1885 in Eastwood, Nottingham, a small mining town in the Mi lands. In 1912, Lawrence began to write his third novel Sons and Lovers. And at that time, it was in the period of his mother's illness, he often expresses this sense of his mother's wasted life through his female protagonist Gertrude Morel. Letters written around the time of its development clearly demonstrate the admiration he felt for his mother. He reflected the society contraction into a family. So he also paid a lot of attention to the relationship of the marriage of parents. He also showed the extremely distinguish between his father and mother. Therefore this book is called the reflection of his own life. And it is based on the protagonist Paul's life experience, mainly revealing how he lives under the control and influence of his mother from the childhood to adult. And What is more, that time was the hardest for him. The world was in the war and everything was in disorder. His books were not accepted. However, with increasing degree of mental crisis and bewilderment of the present capitalism, many people realized that his thought was quite reasonable and his writing style was innovative. Hence his book is received by people gradually.
