D. H. Lawrence was born on September 12th, 1885, who’s one of the most original and controversial English writers of the 20th century. His life was very short, but he left us a lot of characteristic works. He took the human relationship as his major theme, especially the one between man and woman. With many descriptions of undisguised sexual activities based on English native countries, his works turned out to be a challenge to the conventional society. Though rejected and misunderstood by many people, he still proceeded his writing with plain sexual description aiming at criticizing the society, best exampled by Sons and lovers, his first novel in 1913. Some other famous novels like The Rainbow published in 1915, Women in love published in 1921, and Lady Chatterley’s lover published in 1928.
