These philosophical poems attributed greatly to the reputation of “poet of nature”. In his natural poems, Wordsworth fully expressed his love and admiration for nature. Wordsworth sang heartily for nature, but also acquired inspiration from nature. This essay tries to discuss Wordsworth’s view of nature. Firstly, the paper will analyze how his view of nature formed. In this part, his childhood experience, Rousseau’s view of nature and the political environment will be introduced as these three aspects have made great influences on him. And then, this paper demonstrates the relationship between nature and human beings in his point of view. And it can be concluded that in Wordsworth’s eyes, nature just like an intimate friend, an amiable mother and an erudite teacher for him. Three poems will be discussed to explain these three kinds of relationship sufficiently. They are My Heart Leaps Up, Tintern Abbey and I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. After analyzing the contents above, we will understand his idea and feelings better.

1. General introduction of Wordsworth
William Wordsworth, the representative poet of the early romanticism who, together with Coleridge and Southey, has often been mentioned as the “Lake Poet”. For his poetic talent, Wordsworth was appointed England’s poet laureate from 1843 until his death in 1850.
On April 7, 1770, William Wordsworth was born in lawyer’s family in Cockermouth, Cumberland. Losing his parents early in life, he was taken in charge by his uncle who sent him to school at Hawkshead, the beautiful Lake District in Northwestern England, where he wandered exuberantly through the lovely natural scenery and started to show keen and precociously discriminating interest in poetry.
