Abstract
The thesis takes utopian and dystopian literature as the point of departure to decode the Neverland, a fantastic and ethereal island created by J.M.Barrie. It aims to reveal the spiritual salvation hidden in the modern fairy tale through the analysis of the structure and the related details under the background of times. The condition of existence of the characters is analyzed in the perspective of the utopian and dystopian literature. Not only does it display the psychological dilemma between dream and reality, but also demonstrates the loss of people’s values, as well as the confusion about their status quo under the strike of western social crisis.
